Tough Times Never Last, But Tough People Do

There are seasons in life when building feels hard. When you are trying to create something, become someone, heal from something, learn a new skill, discover your identity, and hold on to your self-worth all at the same time. Nothing seems to be working. Nobody is applauding. The likes are not coming. The recognition is absent. You may even wonder whether what you are doing matters.

But perhaps building is not the hardest part.

Perhaps the hardest part is becoming.

Becoming disciplined when nobody is watching. Becoming consistent when there are no results yet. Developing skills before anyone is willing to pay for them. Discovering your identity before the world tells you who you are. Learning your worth even when life has tried to convince you otherwise.

The real work is becoming.

There is an old analogy about a man who wanted to cut down a tree. He picked up an axe and immediately began striking the tree. He swung again and again, becoming tired and frustrated. But imagine if he had first taken the time to sharpen the axe. The work of sharpening may have looked like delay, but it was actually preparation.

Sometimes you are not being delayed. You are being sharpened.

The discipline you are building today is sharpening you. The skill you are learning is sharpening you. The rejection you survived is sharpening you. The failure that forced you to start again is sharpening you. The season when nobody noticed you may be developing the strength you will need when everyone does.

Do not despise the sharpening season.

Think about a tree. Before it becomes something strong enough to provide shade, shelter, fruit, or wood, it begins as a seed. Nobody applauds a seed buried in the soil. Nobody celebrates what they cannot yet see. But underneath the ground, something is happening.

Roots are growing.

The tree is becoming strong before it becomes visible.

Your life may feel like that right now. You may be doing the work beneath the surface. Learning. Healing. Building. Reading. Practising. Starting again. Showing up. Developing habits. Becoming disciplined.

And perhaps nobody is clapping.

Show up anyway.

Show up when there are no likes.

Show up when there is no applause.

Show up when nobody recognises your effort.

Show up even when you fail.

Show up when the results are small.

Show up when you are tempted to quit.

You do not need to change your entire life in one day. You do not need to become the finished version of yourself overnight.

Just grow 1% every day.

One small improvement. One new lesson. One disciplined decision. One page read. One skill practised. One healthy boundary. One step forward.

As the famous saying reminds us: The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

The power is not always in making one giant move. Often, the power is in consistency.

Keep taking the small steps.

Do not form habits for applause. Do not build just to trend. Do not become obsessed with being recognised. Recognition is temporary. Trends change. Likes disappear. Applause eventually becomes silent.

But who you become stays with you.

Take time becoming.

Because eventually, you will attract what you have become. You will not have to chase everything. The person you are becoming will begin to shape the opportunities you recognise, the rooms you can enter, the people you connect with, and the work you are prepared to do.

So do not spend your whole life chasing.

Become.

Become disciplined.

Become skilled.

Become wise.

Become resilient.

Become the person who can carry the vision you are praying for.

And when the time is right, trust that God can open doors no human being can close. Your responsibility is not to force the outcome. Your responsibility is to prepare, to grow, to remain faithful, and to keep showing up.

There are things happening in your life that may not make sense today. But tough times do not last forever. Difficult seasons pass. Failure is not final. A slow beginning does not mean a small future.

Keep pushing.

Keep growing.

Keep becoming.

Even if it is only 1% today.

One day, you may look back and realise that the days nobody applauded were the days that built you.

That is BELIEVE.

Not waiting until everything looks perfect.

Not believing only when people support you.

Not showing up only when there are likes, recognition, money, or applause.

Believe is showing up anyway.

Keep showing up.

Keep sharpening.

Keep growing your roots.

Keep taking the next small step.

Because tough times never last.

But the person you become while going through them can last a lifetime.

It has been tough.
The journey has been difficult.
You have worked, prayed, waited, and kept showing up yet sometimes, the results still do not reflect the effort.

But that is where a believer’s mindset matters.

A believer understands that not seeing results does not mean nothing is happening. Some seasons are for planting. Some are for growing. And some are for becoming the person who can sustain what they have been praying for.

So keep going.

Keep believing when it is hard. Keep building when nobody is watching. Keep showing up when there is no applause. Keep trusting God even when the evidence has not yet appeared.

Faith is not only believing when you can see the results. Faith is continuing even when you cannot.

Your journey may be tough, but tough seasons do not last forever. What you do in the waiting matters. What you become in the process matters.

Do not stop because you cannot see it yet. Keep going. Keep believing. Keep building.

Your results may be taking longer than expected, but your consistency is not wasted.
