James 1:5— Ask God for wisdom and discernment when meeting men.

Matthew 6:33 — Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Pray: God, before the husband, I choose You. Order my desires and my life.

Psalm 37:4–5—Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD… Pray for surrendered desires and God's direction.

Proverbs 3:5–6— Trust in the LORD with all thine heart… and he shall direct thy paths.” Ask God to direct you toward the right relationship and away from counterfeits.

James 1:5— Ask God for wisdom and discernment when meeting men.

Psalm 84:11— No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. This is a beautiful verse for trusting God's goodness without forcing a relationship.

Isaiah 43:18–19— Remember ye not the former things… Behold, I will do a new thing. Pray this over old relationships and emotional attachments.

2 Corinthians 5:17— Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. A strong scripture for closing old chapters.

Philippians 3:13–14— Forgetting those things which are behind… I press toward the mark. Pray for grace to stop emotionally returning to what God is calling you beyond.

Psalm 147:3— “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” Ask God to heal rather than merely suppress past hurt.

Proverbs 4:23 — “Keep thy heart with all diligence…Ask for wisdom about who receives access to your heart.

Philippians 4:6–7— Bring the desire for marriage to God without allowing anxiety about timing to rule you.

1 Corinthians 13:4–7— Use this as a standard for the kind of love you are asking God to help you recognize.

Ephesians 5:25— Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church…Pray for a man capable of sacrificial, faithful love not merely attraction.

Galatians 5:22–23— Pray for a man whose life demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Amos 3:3— Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Pray for genuine spiritual, relational and life-purpose alignment.

Psalm 90:17— Establish thou the work of our hands… Pray that the marriage God gives you contributes to purpose rather than distracting from it.

What should you pray?

I would pray something like this every day:

Father, I surrender my desire for marriage to You. I want Your will more than I want my own timetable. If there is anything in me that needs healing, correction, maturity or surrender, reveal it and help me change.

I release every past relationship that I should no longer carry. I forgive where I need to forgive. I repent where I need to repent. I renounce every unhealthy emotional, sexual or spiritual attachment to relationships that are over. I refuse to allow yesterday to determine tomorrow. Heal my heart completely and make me emotionally available for what You have next.

Father, direct my steps. Remove relationships that would distract, deceive or diminish me. Give me discernment to recognize character beyond charm, consistency beyond words, and truth beyond chemistry. Protect me from unavailable, dishonest, manipulative or double-minded men.

I ask You for a God-fearing, emotionally mature, faithful and available husband. A man of integrity and wisdom. A man who loves You, honours marriage, keeps his word, takes responsibility, communicates truthfully and knows how to love sacrificially. Give us shared values, attraction, friendship, peace, purpose and genuine companionship.

And Father, prepare me too. Make me the kind of woman capable of building a healthy marriage. Correct my blind spots. Teach me patience without passivity, standards without pride, softness without losing discernment, and faith without ignoring reality.

If there are doors I need to walk through, show me. If there are places I need to go, lead me. If there are people I need to meet, arrange the connections. Give me courage to act when You open the door.

Lord, I ask for acceleration where acceleration is Your will. Restore wasted years. Redeem lost time. Let unnecessary cycles end. But don't allow my desire for speed to make me choose the wrong person. I would rather receive Your best in Your wisdom than manufacture an answer because I am tired of waiting.

I surrender the how, the where and the timing to You. Order my steps according to Proverbs 3:5–6. I seek You first according to Matthew 6:33. Establish what concerns me according to Psalm 138:8.

And when the right man appears, give me the wisdom to recognize him—not because everything feels intense, but because his character, actions, faith, intentions and consistency agree.

Father, let my next chapter be clean. No triangles. No confusion. No secrecy. No competing relationships. No settling because I am lonely. Give me something honourable, peaceful, mutual and whole.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Jesus teaches persistence in prayer (Luke 18:1–8), and Mark 11:24 teaches us to pray believing. But don't turn “immediate” into a test of God's faithfulness. Sometimes the immediate answer is a meeting; sometimes a closed door; sometimes revelation about someone; sometimes God changes you before changing your circumstances.

God, I am asking You for marriage, but even more than marriage, I am asking for ALIGNMENT. Remove what is wrong quickly. Reveal what is hidden quickly. Heal what needs healing completely. Position me where I need to be. Give me discernment when the right man comes. And don't let impatience make me call something an answer that You never sent.

Matthew 6:33 + Proverbs 3:5–6 + Psalm 37:4–5 would be my three anchor scriptures for this season.

****************************************

Father, in the name of Jesus,

I come before You with thanksgiving, faith and surrender.

Your Word says:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  Matthew 6:33

So before I seek a husband, Father, I seek You.

Let my desire for marriage never become greater than my desire for You. Align my heart, my decisions, my relationships and my future with Your will.

LORD, ALIGN MY DESIRES WITH YOUR WILL

Your Word says:

“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” — Psalm 37:4–5

Father, You know the desires of my heart.

I desire marriage.

I desire companionship.

I desire to love and to be loved well.

I desire a peaceful, honourable, joyful and purposeful marriage.

But above everything, I want the man who is right for me according to Your wisdom.

If anything I desire is outside Your will, change my desires.

If anything within me would cause me to choose wrongly, reveal it.

HEAL ME FROM THE PAST

Father, I surrender every previous relationship, disappointment, heartbreak and unhealthy attachment to You.

Your Word says:

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

Heal every place in my heart that still needs healing.

I forgive those I need to forgive.

I release what needs to be released.

I repent for anything I participated in that was contrary to Your will.

I renounce unhealthy emotional and sexual attachments to relationships that have ended.

I will not carry yesterday into the marriage You may have for me.

Your Word declares:

“Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, Father, make this a new chapter.

No looking backward.

No emotional triangles.

No secret relationships.

No competing for another woman's husband.

No confusion.

No divided affection.

No returning repeatedly to relationships You are asking me to leave behind.

GUARD MY HEART

Your Word says:

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” — Proverbs 4:23

Father, teach me to guard my heart without hardening it.

Give me discernment.

Don't allow loneliness, attraction, chemistry, attention, money, status or impressive words to blind me to someone's character.

Let me recognize dishonesty early.

Let me recognize inconsistency early.

Let me recognize emotional unavailability early.

Let me recognize manipulation early.

And give me the courage to walk away when what I see does not align with what You have taught me.

DIRECT MY STEPS

Your Word says:

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

Father, direct my path.

Order my movements.

Order my conversations.

Order my introductions.

Order my friendships.

Order my social spaces.

Order even the unexpected encounters.

If there are environments I need to enter, lead me there.

If there are people I need to meet, connect us.

If there are doors I should walk through, open them.

If there are doors that look attractive but are wrong for me, close them.

FATHER, I ASK FOR A GOD-FEARING MAN

Your Word says:

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” — Proverbs 9:10

I ask for a man who genuinely fears You.

Not simply a man who says he believes in God.

Give me a man whose relationship with You can be seen in his character, decisions, integrity, humility and treatment of others.

Give me a man who prays.

A man who seeks wisdom.

A man who respects marriage.

A man who understands covenant.

A man whose private character agrees with his public reputation.

GIVE ME AN HONOURABLE MAN

Your Word says:

“A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” — Proverbs 22:1

Father, I ask for a man with a good name and honourable character.

A man whose word means something.

A man who tells the truth even when truth costs him.

A man who doesn't live double lives.

A man who doesn't need to hide me.

A man who is emotionally and relationally available.

A man whose previous relationships are properly resolved.

A man capable of accountability.

A man who respects women.

A man who treats people well regardless of their status.

GIVE ME A MATURE MAN

Your Word says:

“When I became a man, I put away childish things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:11

Father, give me a mature man.

Emotionally mature.

Spiritually mature.

Financially responsible.

Relationally mature.

A man who communicates rather than disappears.

A man who addresses conflict rather than running from it.

A man who can apologize.

A man who can forgive.

A man who can listen.

A man who can lead without controlling.

A man strong enough to be gentle.

GIVE ME A WELL-ESTABLISHED MAN

Your Word says:

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings.” — Proverbs 22:29

Father, I ask for a man who has built something with his life.

A diligent man.

A productive man.

A man with vision.

A man with purpose.

A man who understands responsibility and stewardship.

A man who works wisely and handles resources responsibly.

I desire a man who is financially established and stable, not because money is my god, but because I desire a marriage where we can build rather than live continually in financial chaos.

Your Word says:

“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.” — Deuteronomy 8:18

Give me a man who understands that wealth is a stewardship.

May he have the capacity to provide, invest, create, build, give and leave something meaningful for generations.

And Father, continue establishing me too.

I do not ask You for an established man while refusing to become an established woman.

Increase my wisdom, discipline, stewardship, character, capacity and purpose.

May we come together not as two people looking for someone to rescue us, but as two whole people prepared to build together.

GIVE ME A MAN WHO KNOWS HOW TO LOVE

Your Word says:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” — Ephesians 5:25

Father, give me a man capable of loving me well.

A man who is affectionate.

Faithful.

Kind.

Protective without being controlling.

Generous without using money as power.

Romantic.

Thoughtful.

Present.

A man who makes his intentions clear.

A man who chooses me openly.

A man whose love brings peace rather than constant anxiety.

LET HIS LIFE BEAR GOOD FRUIT

Your Word says:

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.” — Galatians 5:22–23

Father, let me recognize him by his fruit, not merely his words.

Let there be love.

Joy.

Peace.

Patience.

Kindness.

Goodness.

Faithfulness.

Gentleness.

Self-control.

Protect me from mistaking intense pursuit for genuine love.

Let time reveal character.

GIVE US ALIGNMENT

Your Word asks:

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” — Amos 3:3

Father, give us alignment in faith, values, marriage, family, finances, purpose, lifestyle and vision.

Let us genuinely enjoy each other.

Give us friendship.

Laughter.

Attraction.

Conversation.

Companionship.

Mutual respect.

Let us sharpen rather than diminish one another.

Your Word says:

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” — Proverbs 27:17

Let my husband make me better, and let me make him better.

REDEEM THE TIME

Father, where years have been lost through wrong relationships, wrong decisions, disappointment or waiting, I ask You for restoration.

Your Word says:

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” — Joel 2:25

Redeem the years.

Restore what needs restoration.

Accelerate what You desire to accelerate.

I ask boldly for a suddenly season—but never allow my desire for speed to override Your wisdom.

Don't let me marry quickly and regret slowly.

Give me both divine acceleration and divine discernment.

I ASK, SEEK AND KNOCK

Jesus, You said:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” — Matthew 7:7

Therefore I ASK.

I SEEK.

I KNOCK.

I ask You for an honourable marriage.

I ask You for a God-fearing husband.

I ask You for a mature husband.

I ask You for a faithful husband.

I ask You for an established husband.

I ask You for a visionary husband.

I ask You for a man of integrity.

I ask You for companionship, attraction, friendship, laughter and peace.

I ask for a man with whom I can pray, love, live, build, prosper, serve and grow old.

GIVE ME WISDOM TO RECOGNIZE THE ANSWER

Your Word says:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him.” — James 1:5

Give me wisdom when men approach me.

Let me neither reject the right man because he doesn't arrive according to my imagination nor accept the wrong man because I am tired of waiting.

Show me what questions to ask.

Show me what to observe.

Show me when to wait.

Show me when to move.

Show me when to say yes.

And show me when to say no.

AND ABOVE EVERYTHING, GIVE ME PEACE

Your Word says:

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7

I refuse to make marriage decisions from fear.

I refuse to panic because of age or time.

I refuse to compare my journey with another woman's journey.

I refuse to settle because I am lonely.

What You have for me will not require me to abandon wisdom, dignity, truth or obedience to receive it.

Father, prepare him.

Prepare me.

Order our steps.

And when our paths cross, give both of us clarity.

Let there be no confusion about intentions.

Let there be honour in the courtship.

Let there be wisdom in our decisions.

Let there be Your presence in our relationship.

And if marriage is Your will for us, establish it.

Your Word says:

“Let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us.” — Psalm 90:17

ESTABLISH MY NEXT CHAPTER, LORD.

I surrender the person, the process and the timing to You.

But I ask boldly, expectantly and faithfully:

Father, lead me into an honourable, joyful, peaceful and God-centred marriage with a God-fearing, mature, loving, faithful, emotionally available, financially established, purposeful and honourable man.

And while I wait, continue making me into the woman You have called me to become.

I seek You first.
I trust Your direction.
I receive Your healing.
I walk in wisdom.
I expect Your goodness.
I will not settle.
I will not force.
I will not fear.
I will remain open to Your leading.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

“Lord, give me divine acceleration, but never at the expense of divine discernment.”
