A Builders Prayer For A God Aligned Future Partner

A prayer for discernment, alignment, preparation and a partnership in which both people are submitted to God and committed to stewardship.

 A Prayer for a God-Aligned Future Partner

Heavenly Father,

I come before You acknowledging that I cannot build the life You have called me to build by my own strength and wisdom.

I surrender my desire for marriage to You.

I surrender my timeline.

I surrender my expectations.

I surrender my past.

I surrender my fears.

I surrender the desire to be chosen simply because I am afraid of being alone.

Lord, teach me first to love You.

Let my relationship with You become stronger than my desire for a relationship with a man. Teach me to seek Your Kingdom first and to trust that everything else belongs in its proper place.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you — Matthew 6:33

Father, forgive me for the times I allowed worldly desires, loneliness, emotions, appearances or my own understanding to lead me.

Give me wisdom.

Your Word says:

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault — James 1:5

So I am asking.

Give me wisdom to recognise character before chemistry.

Give me discernment to distinguish genuine love from manipulation.

Give me patience not to rush because I am lonely.

Give me courage to walk away from what is not aligned with You, even when I have feelings for the person.

Give me the wisdom to recognise a man by his fruit not merely by his words, potential, status, appearance, money, charm or promises.

Lord, prepare me to become the woman I am asking You to bring into partnership with a Godly man. A man who fears God.

Make me wise.

Make me disciplined.

Make me emotionally mature.

Make me financially responsible.

Make me trustworthy.

Make me peaceful.

Make me teachable.

Make me courageous.

Make me a woman who builds.

Teach me to steward everything You place in my hands my body, mind, gifts, finances, relationships, work, influence, home and purpose.

Your Word says:

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come — Proverbs 31:25

Father, make me that kind of woman.

And concerning my future husband, I ask You not simply for a man who is successful, wealthy or impressive.

Give me a man of character.

A man who fears You.

A man who loves Your Word.

A man who takes responsibility.

A man who keeps his word.

A man who is humble enough to learn.

A man who knows how to work.

A man who knows how to rest.

A man who has vision.

A man who builds.

A man who can lead himself before attempting to lead a family.

A man who treats women with honour.

A man who respects people regardless of their status.

A man who understands stewardship.

A man whose private character agrees with his public reputation.

A man who does not need constant attention from women to feel valuable.

A man who is emotionally mature enough to communicate.

A man who can apologise.

A man who can forgive.

A man who has boundaries.

A man who is faithful.

A man whose relationship with You is not a performance.

Father, give me a man whose life has substance behind his words.

And if he is building a business, let him build with integrity.

If he is building a career, let him build with excellence.

If he is building wealth, let him understand stewardship.

If he is building a family, let him understand covenant.

If he is building influence, let him understand responsibility.

Let him be a builder, not merely a consumer.

And Father, wherever he is, prepare him too.

Heal what needs healing.

Teach him what needs teaching.

Correct what needs correcting.

Strengthen what needs strengthening.

Give him wisdom for the responsibilities he will carry.

And prepare both of us so that when our paths cross, we don't merely recognise attraction we recognise alignment.

Lord, protect me from choosing from old patterns.

Don't allow loneliness to make me call the wrong person "love."

Don't allow chemistry to make me ignore character.

Don't allow potential to make me tolerate dysfunction.

Don't allow money to make me compromise values.

Don't allow status to make me overlook integrity.

Don't allow physical attraction to silence discernment.

Don't allow fear of being alone to make me settle.

And don't allow me to confuse a person's ability to pursue me with their ability to love me well.

Teach me to observe.

Teach me to wait.

Teach me to ask questions.

Teach me to seek wise counsel.

Teach me to watch consistency over time.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.— Proverbs 4:23

And when he comes...

Father, help me recognise him without trying to force him to fit an image I created.

Let there be mutual respect.

Mutual attraction.

Mutual honour.

Mutual purpose.

Mutual accountability.

Mutual submission to You.

Let us not compete with one another.

Let us complement one another.

Let neither of us become the other's God.

Let us point each other toward You.

And if marriage is Your will for us, let our union become more than a private love story.

Let it become a building partnership.

Your Word says:

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9

Let us build a loving and peaceful home.

Build businesses.

Build wealth responsibly.

Raise children with wisdom.

Serve others.

Create opportunities.

Give generously.

Mentor others.

Use our gifts.

And steward everything You entrust to us.

Let our marriage produce fruit beyond ourselves.

And above everything, Lord...

I don't want a relationship that takes me away from You.

I want a relationship that helps me become more of who You created me to be.

I don't want merely to be someone's wife.

I want to become the woman You created me to be.

And I don't want merely to find a husband.

I want to recognise a man who is also becoming who You created him to be.

If our paths are meant to meet, let them meet according to Your wisdom and timing.

And if I am not ready, prepare me.

If he is not ready, prepare him.

If either of us needs healing, heal us.

If either of us needs wisdom, teach us.

If there are people we must leave behind, give us courage.

If there are environments we must enter, lead us.

If there are things we must build first, give us discipline.

Don't let me chase what You have not ordained for me.

Give me the wisdom to recognise what is from You, the courage to reject what isn't, and the patience to wait for what is worth building.

I trust You with my future.

I trust You with my marriage.

I trust You with my purpose.

And most importantly, I trust You with me.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

A declaration to carry with the prayer

I will not choose from loneliness again.

I will not sacrifice my values for attention.

I will not confuse chemistry with character.

I will not be led by worldly desires.

I will be led by wisdom, Scripture and the Holy Spirit.

I will become a woman of strength, dignity, wisdom and stewardship.

And if God gives me a husband, we will not merely fall in love we will build.

And remember this: you don't have to become perfect before God can bring the right person into your life. Your task now is to keep becoming keep learning, keep healing, keep obeying, keep building and keep your eyes on God.

The goal isn't to become so valuable that the "right man" finally chooses you.

The goal is to become so rooted in God that you no longer choose what is beneath the woman He is developing you to become.
