Nothing Is Impossible with God But Faith Must Move.

One of the most quoted verses in the Bible is found in Luke 1:37:

For with God nothing shall be impossible.(Luke 1:37)

As believers, we confidently declare this truth. We pray it. We sing it. We preach it. We encourage others with it during difficult seasons.

And rightly so.

God is limitless. His power has no boundaries. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). He is the God who parts seas, raises the dead, heals the sick, restores families, opens impossible doors, and makes a way where there seems to be none.

But there is a question I often ask myself.

If we truly believe that nothing is impossible with God, why do so many believers continue to live far below the life God has called them to live?

Why do we often settle for mediocrity when we serve the Creator of the universe?

Why are so many Christians absent from places of influence, innovation, leadership, and excellence?

Why don't our businesses, careers, families, communities, and nations consistently reflect the greatness of the God we proclaim?

Perhaps the answer is not in God's ability.

Perhaps it is in our responsibility.

God Gave Humanity Dominion

From the very beginning, God never intended humanity to simply exist.

He gave us responsibility.

Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth...(Genesis 1:26)

And after creating mankind, He blessed them and said:

Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.(Genesis 1:28)

Notice the language.

Be fruitful.

Multiply.

Fill.

Subdue.

Have dominion.

God did not ask humanity to wait passively for everything to happen.

He commissioned us to steward His creation.

To build.

To cultivate.

To solve problems.

To create value.

To lead.

To innovate.

To serve.

To multiply what He places in our hands.

He gave us authority on earth while remaining sovereign over heaven.

Faith Was Never Meant to Be Passive

The Bible is clear.

Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (James 2:17)*

Many of us have faith.

But do we have movement?

Prayer is powerful.

Fasting is powerful.

Worship is powerful.

Reading Scripture is powerful.

Serving in church is powerful.

These are essential disciplines that strengthen our relationship with God.

Yet after praying, we must still move.

After fasting, we must still build.

After believing, we must still act.

Faith is not merely believing God can.

Faith also responds as though He will.

Noah believed and built the ark.

Moses believed and stretched out his staff.

David believed and faced Goliath.

Peter believed and stepped out of the boat.

The woman with the issue of blood believed and reached for Jesus' garment.

Every miracle involved faith that moved.

God Calls Us to Excellence

As believers, our lives should reflect the character of God.

If we say we love God, our work should demonstrate integrity.

Our businesses should demonstrate excellence.

Our leadership should reflect wisdom.

Our stewardship should reveal faithfulness.

Our innovation should solve problems.

Our generosity should create opportunities for others.

Imagine if every Christian became the best employee in their workplace.

The most trustworthy entrepreneur.

The most innovative engineer.

The most compassionate doctor.

The most ethical politician.

The most visionary teacher.

The most disciplined athlete.

The most generous employer.

The most faithful steward.

The world would not only hear about God.

It would see Him reflected through His people.

Jesus Himself said:

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.(Matthew 5:16)

Our work becomes a testimony.

Our excellence becomes worship.

Our stewardship becomes ministry.

Our wealth is a testament 

Seek God First Then Build Boldly

Jesus gave us the right priority.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

Notice He did not say seek success first.

Or wealth first.

Or recognition first.

He said seek God first.

Everything begins with Him.

But seeking God does not mean becoming passive.

It means receiving His wisdom and then walking in obedience.

God blesses the work of diligent hands.

He multiplies faithful stewardship.

He opens doors for those willing to prepare.

He provides opportunities for those ready to serve.

Even Healing Requires a Response

When Jesus healed people throughout Scripture, He often asked them to respond.

"Stretch out your hand."

"Rise, take up your bed and walk."

"Go and wash."

"Go, show yourself to the priest."

Healing was God's power.

Obedience was the person's response.

Even today, someone believing God for healing has a part to play believing God's promise, following wise medical counsel where appropriate, caring for the body God has given, and refusing to surrender to hopelessness. Our actions do not earn God's power, but they can express our trust in Him.

God's power and our obedience often work together.

Nothing Is Impossible When Faith Goes to Work

The Christian life is not about choosing between prayer and work.

It is about allowing prayer to fuel our work.

It is not choosing between faith and action.

It is expressing faith through action.

God remains the One who performs miracles.

But He frequently chooses to work through people who are willing to obey.

Perhaps the greatest prayer we can pray is not only:

"God, do the impossible."

But also:

"Lord, make me willing to do my part."

When faith meets obedience...

When prayer meets preparation...

When belief meets discipline...

When purpose meets action...

Then  we begin to witness the impossible becoming reality not because of our strength alone, but because God works through surrendered, faithful people.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20)*

God's power is limitless.

Our responsibility is obedience.

When we faithfully do what He has placed in our hands, we create room for Him to do what only He can.
