BUILD FRIDAYS AFRICA FOCUS
Great Business Ideas Are Hiding Inside Problems.
Pay attention.
That is where many great businesses begin.
Not with a brilliant idea.
But with a problem worth solving.
AFRICA HAS PROBLEMS.
THAT MEANS AFRICA HAS OPPORTUNITIES.
If you want to build in Africa, start listening.
Listen to what people complain about.
Listen to what frustrates them.
Listen to what they repeatedly say:
Why is this so difficult?
Why can't someone fix this?
Why does this cost so much?
Why isn't there a better way?
Those complaints are data.
Don't dismiss them.
Investigate them.
Gather information. Study patterns. Talk to customers. Observe behaviour. Look at what people are already spending money on. Understand where time, money and opportunities are being lost.
Then ask:
Is this a problem experienced by one person or millions?
That is where the opportunity becomes interesting.
HOW TO FIND GREAT IDEAS IN EMERGING & AFRICAN MARKETS
1. FIND THE COMPLAINT
What are people constantly frustrated about?
2. FIND THE PATTERN
Is the problem repeated across communities, cities, industries or countries?
3. GATHER THE DATA
Don't build from assumptions. Validate the size, frequency and cost of the problem.
4. UNDERSTAND THE CUSTOMER
Who experiences the problem most? Who is already paying to solve it?
5. STUDY WHAT ALREADY EXISTS
What solutions are available? What is missing? What can be cheaper, faster, simpler or more accessible?
6. LOOK FOR AFRICAN ADVANTAGE
Africa doesn't have to copy solutions from elsewhere.
Our challenges, demographics, culture, infrastructure and behaviour can create entirely new business models.
7. BUILD SMALL. TEST. LEARN. SCALE.
The goal isn't to have the most exciting idea.
The goal is to solve a real problem exceptionally well.
Why people want them, what they represent and how to serve that community better can become a business.
Africa is full of opportunities.
Our food systems.
Our transport systems.
Our financial systems.
Our fashion.
Our housing.
Our healthcare.
Our education.
Our tourism.
Our agriculture.
Our logistics.
Our digital economy.
Look closer.
The next great African company may not begin in a boardroom.
It may begin with someone saying:
There has to be a better way.
And someone else paying enough attention to build it.
BUILD FRIDAYS CHALLENGE
Today, don't ask:
What business should I start?
Ask:
What problem keeps showing up around me?
Then investigate it.
COMPLAINT → DATA → INSIGHT → SOLUTION → BUSINESS
That's how you move from ideas to impact.
BELIEVE • BRAND • BUILD
BUILD AFRICA.
Don't just complain about the problem.
Become a builder of the solution.
